Tissot has
been a brand name in the Swiss timekeeping world because of its innovative
timepieces. With an array of sporty and elegant watch collections, it has
spread its reputation all over the world. Nowadays, it is said that nothing can
represent the sporty gesture of time better than Tissot. But, it has attached
with a long history; a history of evolution and creativity.
In 1853, the
company had made its presence as Chs Tissot & Fills in Le Locle. Since
then, the company has been adopting the changing pattern of time to evolve
itself. With a handful of independent workers, the company began its journey.
At that time, artisans designed various watch parts at their home that were
further assembled. The business was mainly confined in producing pocket watches
and luxury pendants.
The company
had taken a big turn in 1930 when it was merged with Omega and created a Swiss
Association – SSIH. In history, the company had been a part of various
path-breaking innovations. The content gives you a glimpse of the glorious history
of the timepieces:
Tissot and
its Innovations:
The
innovative journey of the brand had started in 1930 with the introduction of
non-magnetic wrist watch named Tissot Antimagnetique. The experiment continued
and in 1951, it has astonished watch-lovers with Navigator collection – the
first self-winding wristwatch with 24-hour time-zone needed no manipulation.
The
robustness of Tissot is well-known. These days, it has introduced watches that
maintain a high value in robust and thrilling features. But this attribute was
first taken into consideration with the PR 516 series in 1965. It has taken
another leap of success in 1971 by manufacturing the Astrolon collection – the
plastic mechanical watch.
Innovating
something new is always the core of the brand. In 1985, it has given a natural
touch to the process of watch making by introducing the Rockwatch – the watch
case made of natural stone. In 1986, the brand designed the Two timer watch that
raised a million eyebrows with its analogue and digital display.
In 1989,
Tissot has crafted another watch collection that started a craze in the
watch-making. The woodwatch series, as the name says, is made of a wood case.
In 1999, T-Touch collection brought the brand’s creative mechanic to the fore.
The
victorious journey of the brand continues to till date. In 2014, T-Touch Solar
has been brought in the market. The collection is known for having tactile
watches charged by solar energy.
Tissot
crafted watches that symbolise the Swiss quality and reliability. Over the years,
the brand has showcased interest not only in the newest technology of the
timekeeping world but also in the excitements of sports. The brand is the
official timekeeper of sport events such as NBA, FIBA and CBA. With the MotoGP
watch, Tissot celebrates the racing spirit of motorsports.
